About Gilford

The Recreation Center
of New Hampshire

Gilford sits on the southern shore of Lake Winnipesaukee and has earned its unofficial title as the recreation center of New Hampshire by simply doing everything well. Gunstock Mountain Resort rises into the Belknap range right behind town, a four-season resort with skiing, snowboarding, mountain biking, a mountain coaster, zip lines, and camping. The lake is right in front. There is genuinely not much you cannot do here.

The Bank of New Hampshire Pavilion brings world-class concerts to the waterfront each summer, a 9,000-seat outdoor amphitheater named one of USA Today's 10 Best Concert Venues in the country. Ellacoya State Park offers a sandy beach with views across to the Ossipee Mountains. And every resident gets access to the town beach, an 1,800-foot stretch of sand on Lake Winnipesaukee with lifeguards, a snack bar, and a swim raft.

Gilford also has some of the most respected waterfront communities on the lake. Governor's Island is one of the most prestigious addresses on Winnipesaukee. Gunstock Acres sits between the mountain and the lake with over 400 homes, its own private beach, and community docks. Samoset is a well-established waterfront community with docks, moorings, and a private pool.
